The History Barn has hosted several feature exhibits where visitors have been welcomed from as far away as New Zealand. Many new friendships have been established and countless friends and relatives of current, former, and past New Gloucester citizens have reunited and reminisced uring their visit. Welcome to the “Farm”
The New Gloucester Historical Society is pleased to present the History of the Opportunity Farm, 1910-2011

The Opportunity Farm for Boys, located at the top of Gloucester Hill, was not only a well known fixture and geographical marker, it was home for generations of New Gloucester boys. This bountiful collection offers much by way of memories and memorabilia in not only the lives of the boys who made the Opportunity Farm their home and the families they went on to establish, but also for all who have called New Gloucester and surrounding communities their home.
